Don't ask about the cycling helmet! Beyond have the best site I found for Back Packers.New Zealand has a huge tourist market and Back-packers think of this place as heaven. For as little as NZ$23.00 (R117.00) per night. That puts a roof over your head, gives you a shower and will not be boring. Back-packer lodges offer great company and most of New Zealand Back-packer INNS have a bar or small club down stairs. Some even have NZ$10.00 (R50.90).
From e-mails and travel books I have noticed that majority of B&B's, Guest Lodges and Back-Packers are pretty clean compared to other places. You have to have your own sleeping bag at some places. (I personally feel using your own pillow and sleeping bag is the best, even if you at a 5 star hotel!!!!)
