My Great Week End!!!!!!!!!

Zimbabweans Wire Work -Sword and Flame Swollower -Cape Coloured Carnival

The week end was great, and we kicked off with a party ofnote! They had old school music and the liquor was every where since for $100 you get 2 cases of beer and two bottles of vodka. So I was introduced to the New Zealand way of going out. Step 1 is to find out who can drop you off since you know that if you have had more than 1 drink per hour you are over the limit. Next is to make sure you have $50.00 on you so that you can call a cab, which you know on a friday or Saturday night you might have to wait 30min-1hr for since every one uses them here.
So the party went off with a big bang for a bottle of MOET or two followed by some jelly vodka's ect.... Once everyone had arrived, about 30 odd people, we were able to find 5 other ex South Africans. O' it is like that on the North Shore..... you WILL meet at least 2 South Africans a week here..... So after we got chatting, and some, who have lived here since they were in Primary school, still speaking Afrikaans with an accent. You find the NG KERK has kept every one pritty together with Afrikaans sermines twice a week.
At about midnight Lucy and I called a cab which got there in about 20 min and phones you to tell you he is outside. So we said our good byes to a very, well, mmmmmm, friendly ,loving group of people which is the New Zealand wayof being. The Taxi cost us $35 and it was quite a distance. Our cab driver was a well groomed Indian gentleman who looked like he belonged in an old Collonial house working in a white suit anwering the doors. He had moved here 20 years ago and says he has never ever looked back, and all.
Saturday was Afrikan Dag and it was held in Browns Bay. What was sad was that I felt more respected as an African in New Zealand than in South Africa. Black, white, coloured and Indian, they partied together and had all the proudly South African food cooking away!!! And the best part is that you know if you leave you pick nick bascket and stuff on the grass and you walk to get something, it's untouched!!! No matter what race they where if you asked them why did you leave South Africa, Crime-Job Security-Life Style........ Why wake up at 6:30 every morning and sit in hours of traffic just to be stressed out for your life.... is money and salary really worth it?
My job at Pieroth, www.pieroth.com , my office hours start from 9:30 on a monday end at 5:00 and the rest of the week I am free to set times to myself. I will have 5 taistings a day and if I do six, I can take friday off, depending if we not traveling to the South Island.
After the Afrikan Day we headed to the west side of the Island which is about a 25min drive over to the A&P show. It's like the Rand Easter Show 100yrs ago...... They have sheep sheering comps, cow, dog, hourse and goat shows. They got a theme park going and best of all they have Wood Chopping Champs on!!! These guys are tough and to Kim and Siobhan I found some good husband material!!! They always have wood!!!!!!!!!
It was great, the guy who won the Sheep sheering, cleaned 20 sheep in under 14minutes!!!
They have trackter and truck shows and they have a flee market with cowboy boots and hats for sale, ducks, rabbits and puppies can be found there for sale next to the sheep and cows, of which, Inearly...nearly...nearly got, because the calfs where only $400!!! Have a look at the one at the bottom, I nearly got her, ask Aunty Debbs, we were even looking at name!!!!!!!1

Heaviest Pmp-Kin was 107kg -Don't you Love It -Hows that for a goat!!!!

Sunday Lucy, her sister and Mom with their brown/gold wire haired terrior went for coffee and a bread platter. You go on this little forest walks that are hidden all over the City. One minute you walking past these massive $1'5 mill wooden houses the next you feel like you in Knysna forrest, walking over wooden bridges, down sandy paths with ferns every where!!! FERNS AND FERNS IN THEIR HUNDREDS!!!!!! Anyhow got to go learn some traffic signs, got my test tomorrow, then prey that my Visa goes through!!
